 My Favorite Festival



My favorite festival is The Sinhala and Tamil New Year. It called  Aluth Avurudu,  is the most joyful festival in Sri Lanka. We celebrate it in April when the sun moves from Meena Rashiya to Mesha Rashiya. 

It is a time for family, food, and lots of fun. Before the festival starts, everyone cleans their houses. My mother buys new clothes for all of us. 


We follow special times called Nekath. My family were doing these every Nekath on the time. My mother lights the stove at a lucky time to boil milk.  We all sit together to eat the first meal of the year. We eat delicious foods as Milk rice,  Kavum, Kokis, and Bananas.

 
We give betel leaves to our parents and grandparents to get their blessings.

The best part of Avurudu is the Avurudu Kreeda. (village games). We play many fun games like Kotta Pora, Lissana Gaha, Kana Mutti etc. 


I love this ceremony because everyone is happy.

 Rainy Day A rainy day is a very special day for me. When I wake up and see dark clouds in the sky, I feel very happy. I love the sound of the rain hitting the roof. I like theese days.  When it rainds,  I love to run outside and splash in the water puddles. It is so much fun to see the water fly everywhere.   My dad helps me make small boats out of paper. My brother also join to me. We watch them float and sail in the little streams of water on the street. Sometimes the rain is too heavy, so I stay inside where it is warm. I wrap myself in a soft blanket and read my favorite storybooks. I think the rain is good for everyone. It gives water to the thirsty plants and helps the flowers grow. It is the best time to play and dream.

My Favorite Bike

🚴 My Favorite Bike  🚴 My favorite bike in the whole world is the  Kawasaki Ninja.  It is a very cool sportbike that looks like  it came from a movie.  The first thing I love about the Ninja is its color.  Most Ninjas are a bright, shiny.  It is so bright that everyone can see it coming.  The bike looks very fast even when it is just parked.  It has sharp edges and looks like a powerful machine. When the engine starts, it goes nice sound. It like  "Vroom Vroom". It sounds like a growling lion. It can go very fast, just like a real ninja moving through the trees. When I grow up, I want to wear a sport bike kit.  I want to sit on the seat, hold the handles,  and ride it down a long road.  The Kawasaki Ninja is not just a motorcycle; it is the coolest bike ever made. I love very much to this bike.

The Magical Sinharaja Rain Forest

 The Magical Sinharaja Rain Forest The Sinharaja Rain Forest is a very special place in Sri Lanka. It is so old and full of life, people call it a "World Heritage Site," which means it is a treasure for the whole world.  There is rains a lot in Sinharajaya  This helps the trees grow very tall and strong. Even when the sun is shining, the ground inside the forest stays cool and dark. There are lot of animals that you cannot find anywhere else on Earth. You can see the Blue Magpie and the Red-faced Malkoha flying through the trees and many of birds, monkeys and etc.  The forest is like a giant garden. There are beautiful orchids, giant ferns, and vines that look like long ropes. Some trees are very old and reach high into the sky to touch the clouds. We must protect this. Sinharaja is like the "lungs" of Sri Lanka because it helps give us clean air and fresh water. We must be very careful not to hurt the trees or the animals.
